Calling all:
people with fun personalities, hams, goof-offs, cheese balls and more . . .
as well as those that enjoy watching such folks!
Travis & Mary Alice both had milestone birthdays this past year. In lieu of traditional celebrations, we are hosting this fundraiser. In honor of our daughter, ALL proceeds will be used to help Mary Alice create a children’s book for kids with PHACE Syndrome.

About PHACE

PHACE Syndrome is the uncommon association of large infantile hemangiomas (usually of the face) with birth defects of the brain, heart, eyes, skin and/or arteries. It is an acronym that stands for the medical names of the parts of the body it often impacts:

  • P – Posterior fossa abnormalities and other structural brain abnormalities

  • H – Hemangioma(s) of the cervical facial region

  • A – Arterial cerebrovascular anomalies

  • C – Cardiac defects, aortic coarctation and other aortic abnormalities

  • E – Eye anomalies

  •

The term PHACE was first coined by Dr. Ilona Freiden in 1996, to describe the association of these anomalies, making it a relatively new and often unheard of syndrome. Long-term quality of life varies greatly, with some children being mildly affected and others having more severe findings. Migraine headaches and developmental delays are frequently experienced.

There is no known cause, no known cure. While a genetic component may be involved and studies are underway to investigate this idea, no familial cases have been identified to date.

Mary Alice feels very strongly that children with PHACE need a book to help them understand themselves and the fact that while this syndrome is quite rare, they're not alone. Let's help these kids feel the love!

Below are real faces of PHACE. Many of these pictures were taken by  Positive Exposure Founder Rick Guidotti, an award-winning fashion photographer. Rick had a life-changing moment that prompted him to want to help individuals with medical conditions be seen beyond their diagnosis - "as valuable and positive parts of society," and as "beautiful."  Click here for a photo gallery of his images from a PHACE conference.
